iPad version coming along

After using the version of Garden Planner on the iPad I’m amazed with how easy to use it is and how natural a touch screen is for a design tool. Once you’ve used Garden Planner on a tablet it’s a bit disappointing going back to a desktop/mouse version

Development is now under way for Garden Planner for the iPad and Android tablets.

The picture to the right is a very quick snap I took of the current development version running on an iPad 2.

The first version of garden planner for the iPad will hopefully come out in January.

It wont have all the features of the desktop version, but you will be able to drag and re-size plants and objects.

If you want to be notified when the iPad version is available there is a sign up form here.

If you would like to beta test the iPad version (not something for novice iPad users) please send me an email letting me know.

Garden Planner 3 Released

Garden Planner 3 is now available for Mac and Windows.

This is a completely new version of garden planner, re-written to be faster and more flexible. It also runs on the Mac, which the old version didn’t do.
If you have a previous version of garden planner you can upgrade for free.

There are lots of new features in version 3.0, including Garden Notes, new Tools, new interface and improved printing and exporting of images.

Garden Planner 3 Beta

The Beta version of Garden Planner 3 is now available publicly for people to try out. It runs on Windows, Mac and Linux.

You can try it out here www.smallblueprinter.com/garden/beta/

It uses Adobe Air, so if you dont have that on your computer you will be asked to install it first.

It’s a beta version, so dont use it for anything really important in case you encounter a bug. If you do hit a bug please let me know

New version of Garden Planner coming soon

Garden Planner 3 will be released towards the end of this month.
The good news for existing garden planner users is that it will be a free upgrade for all existing garden planner 2.5 users. So if you buy the current version before it is released you’ll be able to upgarde for no extra charge.

Garden Planner 3 is a complete re-write of the software, although care has been taken to retain the easy to use interface.

New features include: Garden Notebook, massively improved drawing tools, big improvements to printing and saving as an image and plant lists (previously called garden report).

Also, rather exciting is that it will be available for Mac and Linux as well as Windows.

A minor update released today – version 2.5.0.7

This version includes about a dozen new objects (water tanks and ornamental grasses) and has some minor printing fixes and improvements. If youv’e had any problems with printing large plans in landscape format you may want to get the latest version from here

Hi,

today Ive released a minor update to Garden Planner. This update fixes some problems with printing if you have a large plan and are working on it zoomed in.

Previously printing might not work as expected if you printed your plan while being significantly zoomed in. This version fixes those problems.

Version 2.5 released

Garden Planner version 2.5 is now available. It includes over 80 new objects, including new plants, trees and flowers…. and glasshouses and animals and bunch of other stuff. It also includes some bug fixes and interface improvements.

If you have a previous version of garden planner you can update to the new version for free. Just download the latest version. If you are upgrading from version 2.4 it should auto detect your license key and activate the full version. If you are upgrading from an older version of garden planner you may need to re-enter your license key.

oh- and as side note, my wife and I recently had a new baby – a girl – now four weeks old and doing well.

WUGNET is the oldest and largest independent web site supporting Windows users and applications. Getting featured there is a bit of an honour as just about every great software application has been featured on wugnet, and now garden planner gets a pick of the week.

Garden Planner 2.4 released

Garden Planner 2.4 is now available. This version includes two new tools (shade area and hedge builder) as well as a bunch of new objects, including topiary shapes, palms and a number of things people have requested, such as a cat, a slide, a keyhole pool etc. You can also add shadows to your plans – ie: trees, buildings and shrubs have subtle shadows that add style to a plan (select show shadows from the view menu)

If you have a previous version of garden planner just download the new trial version and enter your current license key to activate it.

Also the web site has been given a little bit of a makeover, hopefully it’s an improvement.
