I’ve added a video that gives a quick preview of the Garden Planer 3d viewer.
The viewer is still in development but hopefully will be available soon. Initially there will be a free app to download from this site that will allow you to view Garden Planner plans in 3d. This will be done while the tool is in beta and still being tested. Eventually it will be fully integrated into Garden Planner.
The aim with the 3d view is to keep the ‘feel’ of Garden Planner but to allow you to represent in 3D your 2d plans, while also ensuring that it’s still easy to use and works on a wide variety of desktop computers (including older ones).
Very much enjoying using Garden Planner and looking forward to the 3D update. Will this be notified to users?
Hello Liz,
when the final version is available users will be sent an email. In the interim there is a really early version you can try out here http://smallblueprinter.com/garden/gp3d/
Hi David
It is looking good. I tried out a couple of plans on it and the main issue was my discipline when creating the plans. For example, I used walls to create a raised bed or had layered stuff or not put plants in a pot on a patio! All my wall appeared to be purple? Obviously all the plants are not there and I was missing structures like a pergola. Presumably for vertical structures such as a pergola we will need to put in a height somewhere?

Yes, in the latest version of Garden Planner, for each object/plant that you place on the garden map you have an extra “height” parameter, besides the usual width and length parameters.
